Artist's Statement

As an Artist living in Southern California I find great inspiration in my own backyard. I am inspired by how the fog weaves through our rolling hills in the early hours of dawn, by the juxtaposition of snowcapped mountains flanked by rolling green hills in the winter, and by the overwhelming sense of calm I feel when I smell salt air and feel the vastness of sky meeting up with ocean. My art is about capturing the emotions found in moments like these. I attempt to convey that special “something” that is so hard to describe because it must be felt. It is not a thing that I paint but rather a feeling that I attempt to convey. My life's passion is to chase that intangible feeling that speaks to something much greater than myself.  We feel it when we hear the perfect melody, when we hear a baby laugh, or in a deep connecting conversation with a friend, but often we feel it most when we observe beauty in nature. I believe that nature has the power to heal and inspire each of us. As an artist, it is my desire to reflect this natural beauty and attempt to capture the feeling of these fleeting moments so that they may somehow last a bit longer.  It is my joy to share, through my art, some of these beautiful moments in time from my perspective.
